Summer Party 2009

Our 2nd annual charity event took place on Saturday 13th June 2009 at the Passage House Hotel, Kingsteignton and it was attended by 155 guests.
The party had an international flavour with each table themed on a country. Some of the guests joined in the spirit of the evening by dressing to the theme
of their table. Our celebrity guest at the evening was celebrity chef Michael Caines MBE who is the patron of Families for Children.

As well as being treated to fine cuisine the evening was packed with entertainment from a silent auction, raffle, heads and tails game through to a surprise solo from our guest opera singer Sally Eveleigh and dancing.

The evening raised a grand total of £6300.00 for our two charities Devon Air Ambulance and Families for Children.
El-Nashar Charity Ball
This grand black tie event took place on 7th June 2008 at the Passage House Hotel, Kingsteignton, Newton Abbot where 150 guests attended. The Charity
Ball lived up to the guest’s expectations with an evening of superb entertainment and fine cuisine. The fun-packed evening raised £6,000
for three charities including Devon Air Ambulance, Families for Children and Mouth Cancer Foundation.
Guests enjoyed two auctions, the first of which included a trip to Paris with lunch on the Seine and a champagne hot air balloon trip for two.
A ‘silent’ auction featured 41 lots and tombola, ensuring that almost everyone walked away with a prize.
Bridge2Aid - 3 Peaks
Our Principal Hassan El-Nashar took part in the 3 Peaks Challenge on 10th May 2008. He completed the challenge in just less than 11 hours and only
had one blister!
More importantly he raised around £1200.00 for Bridge2Aid dental who are working with the Tanzanian government to improve access to basic
dental services and provide training programmes for Rural Clinical Officers.

Bridge2Aid - Carry the Baton
In October we took part in Practice Plan's National Relay. The idea was to pass a baton, hand-crafted in Tanzania between as many dental practices
as possible. It started off with Bridge2Aid in Tanzania and the aim was to follow the baton around the UK- with fundraising activities taking place
at each practice along the way.
The baton was brought over by the Bridge2Aid team in May for the BDA conference and has been passed from practice to practice over the past few months.
It has now been returned to Tanzania by the Practice Plan team.
We raised £419.00 from our charity actvity which was completing an Assault course at Ashcombe activity centre. There were two teams of 8
competing against each other and of course Hassan's team won.
It was a great afternoon wet, muddy and challenging, the spectators enjoyed it as much as the participants!!!
Go Yellow Day - Rowcroft Hospice
On 2nd April we held a 'Go Yellow Day' at the practice to raise money for Rowcroft Hospice. All the staff wore something yellow. The patients were
offered scones, fairy cakes and healthy bananas in exchange for a donation.
There was also a raffle for a huge Easter egg.
Much fun was had by all and £86.00 was raised for a very good cause.

Accessories Party - Lifeline Resources
We held an Accessories party on 10th March to raise money for Lifeline Resources. This is a new concept of selling new or nearly new accessory items.
We raised £200.11
Bridge2Aid - Krypton Factor
On 12th May at our team day we used the afternoon to hold a charity event based on the Krypton Factor. We had 2 teams Hassan's Angels and Shazza's
Army and we competed for the El-Nashar Charity Cup. We competed in 4 sections Physical, Observation, Mental Aptitude and General Knowledge.
Hassan's Angels won the cup and we raised £300.00 for Bridge2Aid

Hassan El-Nashar our Principal is going out to Tanzania for 2 weeks in October this year to train clinical officers and work in some dental clinics. We are currently trying to raise money for him to take with him to help buy more equipment for the clinics. This £300 is a start.
IF ANYONE WISHES TO DONATE TO THIS CHARITY WE HAVE A BOX AT THE RECEPTION.
