An Update To Our Valued Patients

To All Our Valued Patients

Further to the Prime Minister’s announcement regarding a new national lockdown which started at midnight last night. We have also received a letter from the Chief Dental Officer for England, Sara Hurley confirming what dental practices should be doing during this new lockdown. We therefore wanted to update you all on how we are moving forward as a practice.

The practice will remain open and see patients. This will be done in line with our standard operating procedures (SOP’S) and the national dental infection prevention policies. These have all been in place since we re-opened on 8th June 2020 and we have been following these to ensure the safety of both our patient’s and team.

Please be reassured that if you already have an appointment booked this will go ahead, unless you contact us in the normal way to postpone your appointment. We would appreciate as much notice as possible if you want to change your appointment as we are working at half our capacity at the moment and are trying to see as many of our patients that want or need to be seen.

For our patients who do not want to visit the practice at the moment we completely understand this and we would like to reassure you that our Dentists and Hygienists can carry out a telephone consultation with you if you wish. Please ask when you call.

For our patients who have been asked by the government to shield we have been advised they should not attend the practice unless they have an acute dental emergency. Again, our Dentists are happy to carry out a telephone triage call for these patients.

Finally, we are aiming to operate as a blue zone, meaning we will not be able to treat patients with COVID19 symptoms. These patients will be referred to an urgent dental hub. Therefore, we will continue to:

  1. Ask you to complete our health screening questionnaire for COVID19 before we can allow you to come into the practice. We appreciate your help in completing these forms via e-mail prior to your appointment. This is to keep both you and our team safe.
  2. Ask you to call us from your car when you arrive outside the practice and wait there until we are ready for you in surgery.
  3. Ask you to minimise what you bring into the practice (e.g. Handbags) to reduce contact and cross contamination
  4. Ask that you come in unaccompanied (unless you are a child under 16 years old or you are a vulnerable adult).
  5. Ask you to wear a face covering. We will take your temperature and ask you to sanitise your hands prior to going into surgery.
  6. Please be advised that our toilet facilities are currently closed.

Introducing our new dentist, Bob Dyer

El-Nashar Dental Care are very happy to welcome our new dentist, Bob Dyer, to the team.

Bob is an extremely experienced dentist who qualified in 1985 from Guy’s Hospital. Since then, Bob has gained considerable experience within providing patients with removable dentures.

He holds an MSC in Prosthetic Dentistry, gained in 1992. Bob enjoys treating patients who have found it difficult to get on with their current dentures or who are deemed to be more technically challenging.

We know that dentures, especially if they are fairly old, can become loose and uncomfortable to wear. Denture wearers often feel self-conscious and worried about eating certain foods. Bob wants to help transform the lives of these patients, and make them feel confident about wearing new, better fitting dentures.

Bob lives locally with his family and enjoys the great outdoors.

Welcoming Mahir Hussain to the Practice


Mahir Hussain, BSc (Hons) BDS MFDS RCSEd.
GDC No: 264606

Mahir graduated in 2016 from Peninsula Dental School and spent a year in practice in Plymouth before moving on to work in the Oral and Maxillofacial surgery department at Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital.

Mahir enjoys all aspects of dentistry, with a particular interest in restorative dentistry, where he wishes to pursue postgraduate or specialist training. He has won prizes for clinical case presentations, audit projects and as an investigator in research. He also enjoys teaching and is a clinical supervisor for dental students at Peninsula Dental School.

Outside of dentistry, Mahir is interested in sport, mainly football (big Liverpool fan!), basketball, boxing and mixed martial arts.

El-Nashar’s Annual Team Day

 

El-Nashar Dental Care had their 14th annual team day held at Edgemoor Hotel, Bovey Tracey on Friday 3rd November.

The day is held for the team to get together and focus on how the last year has gone, as well as discussing what we want to achieve in the next year.

We discussed how we can continue to improve the patient care and services that we provide. We also use it as an opportunity to update the staff on clinical standards and this year we focussed on CQC requirements to ensure that the whole team is working to the same standard.

We took part in various team exercises which helped us to set next year’s business objectives and look at what makes El-Nashar Dental Care different to other practices.

There were 26 members of staff that attended the day and when the team were asked to write down what they liked most about working at El-Nashar Dental Care, overwhelmingly they all said the team of people they work with (see above image).
